Sky News host Paul Murray slams the increased taxes on hybrid cars as a “luxury” tax while Australians are facing fuel price increases and Labor is introducing new fuel standards.
“They are introducing new fuel standards, which means any new car, from halfway through this year – definitely the start of next year and beyond will have to meet higher fuel efficiency standards,” Mr Murray said.
“This means that certain cars will either not be allowed to come in or you will have to fiddle with parts of the engine.
“This government just wants to get as many people to electric vehicles as possible which is why they have introduced luxury car tax on hybrids.
“The claim and the media spin was that all of this will save you a thousand dollars a year when it comes to how many times you have to go to the petrol pump.”
