I go to the regular Sunday Night Open Mike at The Wild Goose Café & Bar here in Ashland literally religiously. It's like church to me. During the pandemic of 2020-21, our host, Dave Hampton, set up a virtual open mike. Each of us posted our own videos during the day and then Dave re-streamed the videos later that night on his facebook page. This is my contribution to our 43rd one, which happened on January 10th, 2021. Three Songs About Loss & Losing-Part One : "Right There", "Step Off Of That Throne", and "It's Too Late", all by me.
I've been saying that I've finally figured out my sound issues, but I need to amend that. I realized I hadn't downloaded the software that came with my webcam. When I did, my video became much better which I like quite a bit. However my old problem with the sound came back. Seems whenever I run sound into any program or app except QuickTime Player my recording levels automatically start adjusting to the amount of sound I'm making which can be very frustrating. This and other issues with the Logitech software made me almost give up, but I did find a partial solution. I run my signals through the Logitech software but I don't record with it. I essentially leave the software on "Record-Pause" and then record with QuickTime. The volume still adjusts automatically but it's not nearly as bad as with other programs. If you nudge the volume up a bit at that point, it will cancel that out. The video quality is so much better I decided this compromise was worth it. I recently got an LED Ring Light which I mounted on the wall behind my monitor which has improved my lighting somewhat...I'm still working on that part of the equation. I have searched far and wide and have found no way to disable this automatic volume adjustment. In spite of this, I'm still loving my Blue Yeti USB microphone and Logitech C922 Pro Stream webcam.
"Right There" is from my album "Terms Of Surrender~Part Two”, "Step Off Of That Throne" is from my album "Brand New World", and "It's Too Late" is from my album "Flow More~Force Less" and like all of my songs, they are available for downloading free or with a donation at www.GeneBurnett.com They are also available at all the usual e-retailers of music, where they might be faster and easier to find...but will cost you a buck.
I hope this video has been helpful to you or touched you in some way that leaves you a little better off for having watched it. This is not a big time channel and I have no plans for it to become one. I’m too small to have ads on my videos and I’ve always had mixed feelings about them anyway. If you would like to support and encourage what I do here, you can make a donation to me directly via paypal. No donation is too small, (or too big!) and all donations are very much appreciated. https://www.paypal.me/GeneBurnett
