Now that we’ve opened and unwrapped the 5585H, it’s time to put it into action.
This is Part 2 of this series, but I have three additional videos I’ll be releasing about getting this set running. One will be about repairing the broken diesel horn on the 470 A-Unit and performing some simple servicing to get it running properly. The second is a video about some simple servicing of the 974 Erie boxcar without performing the difficult process of removing the shell from the frame. The third video is actually a scenery tutorial for folks putting together a temporary layout like my modular 4x6 display shown in this video. Keep checking my channel @hallofsciencewest.
This video was created with the iMovie app on my iPhone.
Background music is called “playful” on the iMovie app.
Intro and conclusion diesel sound is from the record “The Continental Limited” created by the A.C. Gilbert Company.
Special thanks to www.myflyertrains.net for the use of the digitized catalog screenshots. I hope you don’t mind my using them. I recommend people checkout your awesome website as much as possible. Please contact me if you have any special requirements for using your site for background American Flyer information.
Also check out www.americanflyerdisplays.org for some incredible A.C. Gilbert and American Flyer history and information. Thank you Dale.
I’m into making these videos to provide the 70 plus years of information about American Flyer trains that I acquired from my uncle, collector Ray Mohrlang and his good friends. I’m not into it for the money, but if you like these videos, please subscribe to my channel @HallofScienceWest . A lot more to come.
Thanks for watching.
