“Angel Band” (also known as “O Come Angel Band” and "My Latest Sun Is Sinking Fast") is the quintessential bluegrass gospel song. The lyrics and music are from the 1860s. The song speaks of the coming of death and the angelic escort of the spirit to its heavenly home. Probably the most famous performance of the song is the 1955 version by the Stanley Brothers. Their version was featured in the hit movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? My arrangement is based on Tom Adams’ YouTube video version. I’m playing in standard G tuning, key of A, on a Deering Clawgrass 2. Backup is generated by Band-In-A-Box.
