Studied their cartoons, radio, music, TV, magazines.
Studied them like a model minority.
I called myself a coconut,
a 90s teenage dirtbag who never learned of
the Chinese Exclusion Act, the Watsonville Riots and
they never wanted us. They were just using us,
our labor, our model myth to keep people in line
and now, look, we're burning,
and they think it's just fine.
