The moments leading up to CIDR's switch to a CHR-Top 40 format under the umbrella branding of Virgin Radio as "93.9 Virgin Radio", around 12:00 PM EST on November 19, 2020 after 20 years as a soft adult contemporary station... As a Top 40 station, it now competes with WKQI (95.5 FM, iHeartMedia)... Coincidentally, the format change was simultaneous with those of CIMX (88.7 FM, Bell Media) to Country as "Pure Country 89" and WDZH (98.7 FM, Entercom) to Alternative Rock as "ALT 98.7"... Ironically, the lattermost of these two was itself, also previously a soft adult contemporary station, previously as "98.7 The Breeze"...
CIDR began operation in 1949 as CKLW-FM, locally owned by Western Ontario Broadcasting, co-owned with CKLW AM 800 and CKLW-TV Channel 9 (now CBC O&O CBET-DT)...
Recorded from internet stream using streamWriter and edited using Audacity to mitigate copyright concerns and risks... Logos from Wikipedia, Bell Media and iHeartRadio... For preservation, nostalgic and entertainment purposes...
