On this 2nd day of April during the 2020 coronavirus outbreak, today's 'Daily Dose' reminds you to "Just Breathe". I know these times can be uncertain, scary and chaotic, which is even more reason to gain a conscious awareness of your breath.

"To breathe" comes from the Latin 'spirare' which also means 'Spirit', so breathing is a very spiritual thing, especially when you become aware of your breathing. Physically (and metaphysically) it is impossible to not be in the present moment when you can hear your breath. And, being present means that you are mindful, meditative, and that you have interrupted the constant stream of (mostly) negative thought that run through our minds.

So try this exercise whenever you get a moment - or make a moment for yourself - and count to three (one count for each inhale/exhale). Start over and do it again, as many times as you need. If you are feeling up to it, try counting further, keeping mindful of your in/out breath. Chances are, you'll lose your count before reaching 10! This means you simply lost your present moment awareness, so go back to 1 and start over.
