Ted Greene plays “Danny Boy” (also known as “Londonderry Air”) during a seminar he gave at G.I.T. (Guitar Institute of Technology, now Musician’s Institute) in 1978. This was given at the first G.I.T. building at 5858 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA.

Ted gave two seminars that day with vocalist Cathy Segal-Garcia to the students and faculty. An audio recording of one of these can be found in the TedGreene.com AUDIO section, as well on Cathy’s DVD/CD “Never Forgotten.” https://www.cathysegalgarcia.com/store

“Danny Boy” is a ballad written by English songwriter Frederic Weatherly in 1913, and set to the traditional Irish melody of “Londonderry Air.”
You’ve probably heard Ted play this song on his 1977 classic album, Solo Guitar, but this version was recorded a year later, and has some beautiful, improvised variations, interludes, several modulations, and a flurry of harp-harmonics.
