'Did you say $100m?!': Dolly Parton is handed huge sum by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez to fund her Imagination Library that supplies books to schools.

Dolly Parton was awarded $100million by Jeff Bezos for giving children access to books globally.

Parton, 76, has become the latest recipient of the Courage and Civility award at the Bezos Awards on Friday. The recipient is given $100million to 'direct to the charities that they see fit.'

The beloved singer seemed shocked when she was awarded the mammoth sum of money - adding: 'Did you say $100million?'

'I’ve always said: I try to put my money where my heart is,' the country music legend said as she accepted her award. 'I will do my best to do good things with this money.

'When people are in a position to help, they should help,' the millionaire said, as she accepted her award in true Dolly-fashion: lace, skintight black dress and her iconic blonde wig.

The award 'recognizes leaders that aim high, find solutions, and who always do it with civility,' Bezos' longtime girlfriend Lauren Sanchez said at the award show.

The Jolene singer foundation - Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - has gotten books into the hands of 1 in 10 children in the US. It also serves the UK, Ireland, Australia, and Canada.
