Composed in 1953 by Johnny Cash, Folsom Prison Blues became a number one country hit for Cash and further won the Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal in 1969.

Performed here as an instrumental the tune features the Tenor Saxophone in the lead melody role with support from the Slide Dobro in the solo interludes.

The improvised arrangement includes interplay between two tenor saxophones playing freely with the melody. The late, great saxophonist Boots Randolph made a highly successful career out of performing instrumental versions of country and pop hits aside from his writing of the classic instrumental 'Yakety Sax'.
