I went looking for a good song to do to honor the great songwriter, Kris Kristofferson, who just died on September 28th. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything that really spoke to me this morning, although I'll admit I'm not as knowledgable about his lesser known songs as I should be. Sure, I could have done "Me and Bobby McGee", but that's been done to death... Ditto to "Evergreen" and "Help Me Make It Through The Night". I've already done "For the Good Times" on YouTube.
Then I ran across a song Dolly Parton wrote for the 2012 movie, "Joyful Noise." I haven't yet seen the movie, but I loved the song from my very first listen just this morning. I noticed that she'd done it with Willie Nelson for one of his albums that was already in my collection. But for "Joyful Noise", she did it with Jeremy Jordan and Kris Kristofferson. And well, although Kris didn't write this song, it just seemed like one I'd want to do.
Aside from that, it's just a really nice song, and after yesterday's post, I feel like my channel could use something pleasant. Maybe later, I'll do one of Kris's songs. If you have suggestions, you can always leave me a comment.
Here's my version of Dolly Parton's "From Here to the Moon and Back". Hope some of you like it.
LYRICS
I could hold out my arms, say, "I love you this much"
I could tell you how long I will long for your touch
How much and how far would I go to prove
The depth and the breadth of my love for you?
From here to the moon and back
Who else in this world will love you like that?
Love everlasting, I promise you that
From here to the moon and back
From here to the moon and back
I want you to know you can always depend
On promises made and love without end
No need to wonder how faithful I'll be
Now and on into eternity
From here to the moon and back
Who else in this world will love you like that?
Forever and always, I'll be where you're at
From here to the moon and back
From here to the moon and back
I would blow you a kiss from the star where I sat
I would call out your name to echo through the vast
Thank heaven for you and to God, tip my hat
From here to the moon and back
And I'll spend forever just proving that fact
From here to the moon and back
From here to the moon and back
