Hello everybody!
First things first, I am learning how to play the drums... so please be gentle with me! ( I know I'm not the best, but I am indeed trying!)
I hold this song very near and dear to me, as it was first introduced to me by the band Whitney when I was in college. (If you have never heard of Whitney, please go and look them up! Listen to a few of their songs on a drive somewhere!) This song was always a song that made me feel very deeply, and of course it made a lot of sense that it was originally written by the songwriting queen herself, Dolly Parton.
Growing up in East Tennessee, surrounded by the Appalachian mountains, I have always found a lot of inspiration from older country and mountain music. I feel like this has somewhat shaped my voice, and of course, shaped me as a person. (Especially my accent. hehe.) If you are from East Tennessee, you know how every billboard and road sign has either Dolly's name or face on it, and so I grew up with Dolly as a prominent figure all throughout my childhood from just seeing her, to hearing stories about her from people around me. I am definitely a huge Dolly fan, and will definitely be covering some more of her songs! :)
"Gonna Hurry" (As Slow As I Can) was written by Bill Owens and Dolly Parton and released in October of 2009 on her demo album called "Dolly".
