This Christmas song was originally adapted by me for a performance by me in the Alert Bay Public School's Christmas Concert in 1973. It has sat on the back shelf for years. The lyrics are all original by me, the author, and written to suit an arrangement in the form of Long Tall Texan. This version is different in several ways right down to the chords, the key and I ain't the Beach Boys who popuarlized the song in the '60s. They did not write the song. Henry Pershing Strzelecki was the writer and a Nashville studio musician who performed with Chet Atkins, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Eddy Arnold, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Ronnie Milsap, Merle Haggard, and many others. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Strzelecki began playing country music in his teens. Wikipedia but did not write Long Tall Texan but definitely popualized the song. I hope you enjoy my Christmas present to you. Cheers. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Please share this. I have no interest in a monetary return and this is in the spirit of giving and fair use. Enjoy.
