Back in the early 60’s, nearly 60 years ago already, the National Electric Code was a suggestion. Every little town, county, state, and country had its own way of doing things and most electricians were licensed in a specific area by the local governing body, if at all.
In a lot of areas anyone became an electrician by saying, “Yesterday I couldn’t spell it and now I are one.” One of those guys wired my house.
Ungrounded circuits. Wire strung haphazardly. Multiple power supplies in a single junction box. It is a mess. I’m slowly working my way through upgrading the system. It ain’t easy.
