Jah Tung - Me Oh My (Official Music Video)
Snot Riddim by Ras Bellyfull
Album: Same Sun by Ras Bellyfull & Various Artists
Premiered on Reggaeville - 25/03/2020
Jah Tung's latest video release, Me Oh My, touches on the balance of being grateful for our privileges whilst feeling conflicted to see our fellow citizens going without. Through this powerful piece, produced by Melbourne's own Ras Bellyfull, Tung explores the importance of self education, the avoidance of religious dogma whilst upholding a spiritual ethos and the frequent clashes between these beliefs and daily decisions. The message is paired with a strong visual reflection, captured and composed by Raü Visuals and focusing on themes like the distribution of wealth under the ironic title "the commonwealth", political folly, equal opportunity, technological dependence and modern societal expectations. In these times, perhaps more than ever, it is increasingly important to give back to the communities that have given us so much, often undeservedly.
Jah Tung is one of Australia’s leading reggae artists, a foundational genre responsible for the inception of hip hop, punk, dancehall and various other movements that give a platform to the voiceless. After having built momentum both locally and globally with accolades such as a Music Victoria Award nomination and collaborative releases with high profile international reggae artists and pioneers, the lyrical souljah, teamed with some of Australia's finest reggae musicians, is taking the scene by storm under the banner Jah Tung & The Natural Order. With reggae ancestry traced back to the first reggae sound system in Australia, Soulmaker Sound, this fresh and diverse artist strives to bridge the gaps between the country’s tight-knit reggae, hip hop, dancehall communities and more, highlighting the connections to the roots.
"Me Oh My" lyrics written and performed by Kane Luschwitz (Jah Tung)
Snot Riddim by Mateusz Winczewski (Ras Bellyfull)
Video filmed and edited by Raul Vallejo (Raü Visuals)

CHORUS 1:
Love my life
Although the journey nah easy sometimes
Jah blessings motivate me to strive
So me haffi move inna gratitude
Negus I
Qedamawi Abba-baba-Jahnoy
All me require The Most High provide
Not weh me want but weh me need
VERSE 1:
Anytime me wake up me give thanks for that
Step outta me gate and Jah keep me pon track
All when di bigga heads of government dem have me pon track
Cah dem see people enlighten when dem pree me pon track
Yes me blessed so me haffi give back
Becah we deh pon a mission so no badda distract
Some tings me got me see seh nuff of dem lack
It anno material or something you can trade in for cash
That’s the last thing weh dem really desire
An equal chance a weh dem truly require, yeah
Give them some opportunity
So while me grateful for the blessings me granted
Have to stay mindful of the disadvantaged, yeah
Think of your community
CHORUS 2:
Love my life
But me nah feel me deserve it sometimes
So many other people denied
Put my attitude inna rotten mood
Me oh my
Look how we living in a bittersweet lie
The sour end of injustice cause I
Got weh me want but dem in need
VERSE 2:
Dem say a commonwealth, but the wealth is not common
Who has less is who must pay
Do your best to earn your wage
And maybe you can rest and live one day
Dem say a common sense, but me see no sense in some man
Trusting this system to lead the way
Feeding the pigs dem in greedy daze
Then gwaan go sits pon dem knees and prays
Contradictions in dem head
Maybe mis-ed-u-ca-ted
Times dem getting oh so dread
When so many people dem ago mislead
CHORUS 3+4:
Love my life
But me nah feel me deserve it sometimes
So many other people denied
Put my attitude inna rotten mood
Me oh my
Look how we living in a bittersweet lie
The sneering end of injustice cause I
Got weh me want but dem in need
Love my life
Although the journey nah easy sometimes
Jah blessings motivate me to strive
So me haffi move inna gratitude
Negus I
Qedamawi Abba-baba-Jahnoy
