Julian is based at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development (CISD). He joined CISD as an assistant professor in 2017. At the same time, he is Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company. He holds a doctorate from the School of Geography and Environment at the University of Oxford. He finished his PhD in a record time of only 20 months. Until now, Julian has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers. According to the Stanford University database, he is recognized as being among the top 2% of scientists worldwide. He is also the author of the book, the lean PhD.
