Sometimes I wish there was a place I could go, a place where no one can find me. Maybe this place doesn’t exist or maybe it does. All I know is that it’s a place where I’m free.

I watch the clouds float in the blue sky and I think, and I’m always thinking. I think about the things I’ve done wrong and I think about the things I finally got right... and I think about all of the cities I’ve never seen because your eyes always looked like a boulevard I wanted to walk down. Your heart was like a map I wanted to explore and your mind, oh how I loved your mind because it was like the sea: so vast, deep and mysterious. Sometimes I didn’t even know what you were thinking about. I always hoped it was about me.

And really everything reminds me of you. I want what I can’t have and I think about your hands that touched my skin and the words I said to you that night before I left. I think I said “I’ll love you forever.”

And I think about the dreams I’m chasing and I think about all those damn fears that dance in the back of my mind haunting every move I make. Then I think about the future and I think about death. I think about all the people who don’t believe in me and I tell them what I can’t do but I do it anyway. I think about the people who once loved me because I once loved them.

I’m tired but I keep the fire burning inside of me because I’m alive and it’s not too late. I know my heart’s a little wounded and my love can be reckless but at least I’m a rebel with a cause.

And when the dust settles and I can breathe again, I'll ask myself “What do I want?”
