Course: Unheung-ri Village Hall-Galim-gil-Tongcheonmun Gate-Sanghakbong Peak-Myobong Peak-Bukchi-Mitasa-Yonghwajeong Park (about 10km/5 hours)

Characteristics, things to see:
spans Muju-gun and Jangsu-gun, Jeollabuk-do, Geochang-gun and Hamyang-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do. Centering on Hyangjeokbong Peak (1,614m), the main peak, a magnificent ridge of about 1,300m above sea level extends about 30km toward the southwest. It is a huge mountain with a length of more than 20km from Bukdeokyu to Muryungsan Mountain (1,491) and Satgatbong Peak to Namdeokyu (1,507m).

The mountain stream originating from Deogyusan Mountain flows into Muju in the north and flows into Namdaecheon Stream, a tributary of the Geumgang River. The 28km valley to Seolcheon is Muju Gucheon-dong. Gucheondong Valley is formed by hiding waterfalls, walls, cows, strange rock cliffs, and rapids everywhere, forming "33 Scenic Views of Gucheondong."

The refreshing valley, cheerful ridges, the beauty of typical land mountains, and the wide foothills and formidable heights are constantly visited by mountaineers. At the top of the mountain, there are azaleas, conical colonies, adding to the scenery of spring and autumn hiking.

Deogyusan Mountain also has beautiful royal azaleas. In particular, azaleas are scattered on the main ridge, so people say, "In spring, Deokyusan Mountain, the sun rises from the azalea flower garden and sets from the azalea flower garden."Azalea colonies continue on a hiking trail over 20km from Hyangjeokbong Peak at the summit of Bukdeokyujeong to Namdeokyu Sixteenryeong Pass. The most spectacular place is Deogyupyeongjeon Hall. Azaleas fields form a flower garden on a flat ridge. Usually, it peaks around June 5 before and after June 25.

Deogyusan Mountain is a popular place in summer because it is located in Gucheon-dong, Muju, but is also famous for autumn foliage. It creates a wide variety of beautiful autumn leaves, and the deeper and deeper it is as it hugs the mountain. The representative course is to climb to the top of Bukdeok Heritage while looking at the 33rd view of Gucheon-dong. However, the flaw of this course is that it is crowded with too many people at the peak of autumn leaves.

Namdeok Heritage, the second highest peak of Deogyusan Mountain, is good to enjoy autumn leaves quietly and deeply. When you reach the top of Namdeokyusan Mountain, the autumn leaves harmonized with the blue old trees give off a full look. If you go down from Satgatjae Pass to the valley on the left, Wontonggol Valley. The autumn leaves are even more brilliant because they are in the primeval forest area. The blue color of the pine tree complex in the downstream and the various maple colors of oak trees go very well together.

Deogyusan Mountain in winter is reminiscent of the high peaks of the Himalayas. Large and small annual salaries that flow cheerfully through the mountains scatter snowflakes, creating a scene. Deogyusan Mountain is the most popular winter hiking course in the southern part of the country because of the snow that the humid atmosphere of the West Sea sprays over this mountain.

The hike starting from Gucheon-dong Valley creates a unique atmosphere that cannot be tasted in other seasons. When you climb the snowy ridge path and reach Hyangjeokbong Peak, the summit, the azalea colony, attention, and the folktale of the Gusangnamu Forest in snow clothes draw admiration. The folktale of the Gusu Tree Community in the section between Hyangjeokbong Peak and Jungbong Peak creates an oriental painting.

It is popular in the order of snow hiking in January and February, maple hiking in October, Gucheon-dong Valley hiking in July, and azalea hiking in June.

If you take a gondola from Muju Resort and get off at Seolcheonbong Peak Observatory, you can climb to the top of Hyangjeokbong Peak in about 20 minutes, which has recently become a popular outing course for Sulhwasan Mountain in winter.

특징, 볼거리
덕유산은 전북 무주군과 장수군, 경남 거창군과 함양군에 걸쳐있다. 주봉인 향적봉(1,614m)을 중심으로 해발 1,300ｍ 안팎의 장중한 능선이 남서쪽을 향해 장장 ３０여㎞에 뻗쳐있다. 북덕유에서 무룡산(1,491)과 삿갓봉을 거쳐 남덕유(1,507m)에 이르는 주능선의 길이만도 ２０㎞를 넘는 거대한 산이다

덕유산에서 발원한 계류는 북쪽의 무주로 흘러 금강의 지류인 남대천에 유입된다. 설천까지의 ２８㎞ 계곡이 바로 「무주구천동」이다. 구천동계곡은 폭포, 담, 소, 기암절벽, 여울 등이 곳곳에 숨어 "구천동 33경"을 이룬다.

청량하기 그지없는 계곡과 장쾌한 능선, 전형적인 육산의 아름다움, 그리고 넓은 산자락과 만만치 않은 높이를 갖고 있어 산악인들의 발길이 끊이지 않는다．산 정상에는 주목과 철쭉, 원추리 군락지가 있어 봄, 가을 산행이 운치를 더한다

덕유산은 철쭉 또한 아름답다. 특히 주능선에는 철쭉이 산재하여 있어 "봄철 덕유산은 철쭉 꽃밭에서 해가 떠 철쭉 꽃밭에서 해가 진다"는 말을 듣기도 한다．북덕유정상 향적봉에서 남덕유 육십령까지 ２０㎞가 넘는 등산로에 철쭉군락이 이어진다. 가장 화려한 곳은 덕유평전. 평평한 능선에 철쭉밭이 화원을 이루고 있다. 보통 6월25일 전후 ６월 5일경이 절정이다.
