MAX'S SONGS - "Something To Cling To"

I wrote this one in or around 1996, and actually did a studio demo of it which I used to get gigs. I haven't sung it or played it in years PLUS this video is the first time that I sat down at a piano and played or sung in over two years! So... apologies for my rusty hesitant playing and singing and for everything but the song itself, which I think stands up. My main goal for this video was to finally break the ice and start putting my songs out there, not to present a note-perfect performance. You gotta start somewhere.
In hindsight, having written a song like this, why couldn't I see where the then-current relationship I was in would end up?
Always imagined Merle Haggard singing this one, or George Strait.

ABOUT MY SONGS - I wrote songs actively for about 20 years, during the 80s and 90s and into the 00s, and gigged around Pennsylvania semi-seriously as a singer-songwriter, under the name Max Morone, until the early 00s, when my fiction writing overtook my songwriting as creative work.
A few years ago, in a storage fiasco, I lost all of the manuscripts for my songs-- well over 100 original tunes-- and so I thought it'd be a good idea to record them for posterity and post them on Youtube.
I don't have the original manuscripts and lead sheets, but they're all in my head, so as I think of them and I get the time at a piano, I'll record them and post them.

"Something Else To Cling To" words and music by Max Harrick Shenk. Copyright c 1996. I own all rights to this song and this performance, but you can feel free to share the video if you like it.
