Here is the first solo to Merle Haggard's "I THINK I'LL JUST STAY HERE AND DRINK" The original solos were played by the late, great studio guitarist Reggie Young.
I'm actually learning these solos as I record them here so it's near impossible to replicate the phrasing and feel of Reggie's actual solos but I do my best here for illustration purposes. I also played it very slowly after the original take. When playing it slow it can also be difficult to play it accurately so my apologies if a note or slight phrasing is played a little differently. However I try to capture the feel and play it as accurately as I can. I played this to a backing track that I purchased and removed the guitar solos in order to play them here.
