Back in 1963 Willie Nelson wrote this song and it has remain a staple among many folks of the Caribbean. It's based on a fellow he remembered from Fort Worth, Texas who was disabled and sold pencils and paper on the sidewalks of the city. Roy Orbison had a big hit with the song that year. Willie recorded it himself the following year. Many have recorded it since including this version by the late Lascelle Martinez released in 2016.
