Mumbai: Sanitation staff dumps garbage in river, video goes viral

An incident of shocking civic apathy in the heart of Mumbai. A video of a garbage vehicle showing sanitation staff dumping garbage inside flooded river during rain instead of dumping ground has gone viral, raising question over government's Swach Bharat Mission in country. The incident took place at Bhiwandi area of Thane district on Friday morning under Shelar Gram Panchayat area jurisdiction. Following the incident, the Shelar Gram Panchayat issued notice to sanitation department staff Sunil Channe asking him to give clarification on issue within two days. In video, Channe is seen asking the driver to put garbage inside Kamvari river despite being opposed by locals taking video.
