"Silver Threads and Golden Needles" by Dick Reynolds & Jack Rhodes was first recorded in 1956 by Wanda Jackson. This first recording included a second verse which for some reason was not used in subsequent recordings. The best known versions are by Linda Ronstadt and The Everly Brothers. The Springfields had a hit with it in the UK s did Sandy Denny. Johnny Rivers covered it as did Janis Joplin, The Cowsills, The Grateful Dead, Crystal Gayle and the trio of Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette & Loretta Lynn.
