Here’s my medley of the kick-ass, rollicking free-for-all that was Firefall. The band has indirect ties with Deep Purple, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Jo Jo Gunn, Spirit and Fleetwood Mac, among others.
One can easily feel the rage behind such songs as “You Are the Woman;” the angst in “Just Remember I Love You;” and the dark overtones of “Strange Way.” Many wondered how such an outrageous act such as Firefall could have toured with more subdued groups and performers such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Waits - and heavy metal wildman Willie Nelson.
With its distinct overdriven guitars, screeching vocal section, ridiculously intricate bass lines and its “balls-to-the-wall” percussion, Firefall was a force to be reckoned with – by the few who dared!
And so – prepare your ears for Wagnerian feast I call Firefall!
This is for my muse and Heavy Metal Goddess, KT!
The songs:
00:00 You Are the Woman
02:28 Just Remember I Love You
05:28 Strange Way
