COUNTRY TEEN CROSSOVER OUT OF BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIA: A good prime example of this music genre,
which came out of the old 1940's and 1950's "Bakersfield Sound", made popular by singers such as Buck Owens and Merle Haggard.
Not much is known about Wally Lewis, he was from Bakersfield and did perform there and in other places, including Dick Clark's American Bandstand. He had several other records, the most known being "Kathleen", in this similar style besides more straight country and a bit of rockabilly.
Buck Owens wrote this featured song "White Bobby Sox" from 1958.
Enjoy the music, picture of Wally Lewis and many haunts around the southern San Joaquin Valley city of around 400,000 now (Up from about 56,000 in 1960) known for agriculture and energy production that hopefully captures the ambience of the times, especially the old Bakersfield club and watering hole venues that artists like Wally Lewis performed at.
