Commander James Bond, also known as 007, is a fictional character created in 1952 by British journalist and author Ian Fleming. After Fleming died in 1964, the character featured in a series of twelve novels and two short story collections authored by Fleming and several continuation novels and spin-off works. Between 1962 and 2021, a total of twenty-seven films were made.

Before anyone knew about the James Bond Franchise, Barry Nelson first portrayed James Bond in a 1954 rendition of Ian Fleming's novel Casino Royale.
