1-hour nature sound recording (field recording), taken in the Southern Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa in October 2016, containing birdsong, insects, and a mountain stream heard faintly in a distant valley.
Relaxing wilderness nature sounds, great for study, meditation or work. This is authentic, unaltered ambiance which I recorded personally on location.
The Drakensberg mountains are an escarpment (line of large cliffs) running almost the entire length of South Africa. They separate the lowland and highland areas of the country and are also form the watershed between rivers running east into the Indian Ocean and rivers running west into the Atlantic. The Drakensberg range is a Unesco World Heritage Site, containing many endemic and rare species of plants and animals as well as outstanding natural beauty. There are also many rock art sites, some extremely ancient, created by the San (Bushmen) people who once lived here.
For more information about the Drakensberg and to arrange guided hiking trips into its pristine wilderness areas, I can highly recommend the company Southern Secrets (http://southernsecrets.co.za).
Sound recorded on a Roland R-05 sound recorder with attached Gutmann Shield.
Post-Processing in Logic Pro X
