Winter's Dream / Paul Winter Consort / Spanish Angel / Track 5

The title doesn’t allude to Paul Winter’s name, but to the Winter Solstice, an event Paul and the Consort celebrate every December at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. The dream is for renewal, following the tradition of ancient solstice rituals that at the darkest and coldest time of the year, beseech the sun to return.

Written by Paul Halley (Back Alley Music, ASCAP)

Paul Winter | soprano sax
Paul Halley | keyboards
Rhonda Larson | flute
Eugene Friesen | cello

SPANISH ANGEL captures the Paul Winter Consort’s third tour of Spain, in 1992. Roused by fervent audiences, stimulated by the vibrant acoustics of classic old opera houses and concert halls, the Consort gave dynamic performances which, captured on state-of-the-art recording equipment, have resulted in a favorite and Grammy-winning album.
