The tribes have gathered at Petey's Place and the 2021 North Yuba Nugget Hunt is in full swing. We usually do our prospecting alone, or with just a couple of compadres. However, today our group consists of more than 50 goldseekers, family and friends. Nuggets, pickers, pokers, and shiny flakes of gold are unearthed. Mother Yuba bestows her glittering treasures on some first time prospectors. Old friends make more memories. New friendships are kindled on the river. There is a sense of community and common purpose. Our shared love for mining and the magnificent beauty of Mother Yuba bridges generational and cultural divides. Aces are high and a lucky someone at Camp America is the winner of the three gram gold give away. We resolve to return again next year and to make the 2022 North Yuba Nugget Hunt another epic event.
