In this video we forge a 17th century bardiche pole axe. This axe is forged from wrought iron with a forge welded high carbon edge. This Pole Arms were made popular by the Streltsy shooter brigade when they paired it with a match lock long gun. These pole arms were used from the 14th through the 17th century although some examples date back much further than that. In this video we do our best to recreate a bardiche that is as close to a historical example as possible. We use as close as possible materials and methods that would have been used by blacksmiths hundreds of years ago. Ilya and Matt both combine to bring one of the most heavily produced war axes in all of history.
