Random Thought:
Just to expand for a moment on sponsored videos since it was touched on in this video. My issue lies with me being primarily a review channel, and my topic is makeup. I personally feel that taking a sponsorship from a makeup company is in direct conflict with my content. And as I said, there are often many strings attached to anything that I've been offered that gear many sponsorships toward directly promoting a product rather than giving all sides- good and bad. I know not everyone has this feeling, and that's ok! Obviously I'm only speaking for myself. There are some channels that have zero connection to where a sponsorship is coming from... for example, a music channel gets sponsored by a t-shirt company. I really don't see the conflict there. Totally just my 2-cents!
I think that the more prevalent sponsorships become in the beauty community, the more BRANDS are steering content you see as opposed to creators. I started in an era of YouTube when there weren't ANY sponsorships... and you felt like you were getting information with the purest intentions. Perhaps it's my specific journey and awareness of that phase of YouTube than makes me want to do my small part in keeping things that way.
