UK: Bolton Town Hall clock chimes for Brexit

Bolton locals were following the countdown to Brexit, with some expressing hopes that the UK's departure from the EU happened for the best, Friday.

"Brilliant, it’s about time we got our country back," said one of the locals, who, like some other Brexiteers followed the countdown near the Bolton Town Hall tower. Another local said that he was "so proud to be British."

The UK joined the European Economic Community in 1973 and after 47 years it is the first member state which withdrew from the EU. The 11-month transition period began on Friday at 23:00 GMT, the time of the official departure.
