UK Weather Forecast: More Dense Fog Early And Late (Thursday 1st December 2022)

Good morning everyone and welcome to today's UK weather forecast on Thursday 1st November 2022.

Current Situation:

High pressure is ridging over and to the east of the country bringing an on-going risk of fog... A weak weather system will bring patchy rain to the north and west...

Today:

Thursday begins with showery rain across Scotland and Northern Ireland but England and Wales are dry though there is a lot of dense fog patches which will lead to damp and drizzly conditions in places.

Through the rest of the day the rain will mostly die out across Scotland but it will stay damp there while England and Wales sees a lot of the fog patches thinning and lifting into low cloud and murk. A cold day for England and Wales at 3C to 7C but milder for Northern Ireland and Scotland at 7C to 10C.

Tonight:

A few light patches of rain and drizzle for Scotland but most places will have a dry night with more widespread and dense fog patches across England and Wales especially. Frost is possible through the south and west so the fog patches could well be freezing in nature with icy patches likely on untreated roads and pavement. Temperatures range from -2C to +7c.

Tomorrow:

Some light rain and drizzle for the far north east of England but the rest of the country will have a dry day with dense fog patches gradually thinning out. A rather cold day once again.

Outlook:

Saturday: Easterly winds make it feel cold with showers in the east and more general rain in the north.

Sunday: Cold easterly winds with showers becoming more widespread and perhaps turning wintry over high ground in the north east.

Monday: Easterly winds bright more showers to the east but most places will be dry and cold.
