When lockdown hit the world, GoodLuck were in the process of releasing their fourth electronically produced album, and 5 tours planned in 2020 to Asia, Germany, The UK, The Netherlands, and Australia.
Realising that the world was changing, and going through just about every emotion from panic to enlightened self-discovery, GoodLuck headed back into the studio and decided it was time to try something entirely different.
They handpicked some incredible session musicians from Cape Town and began to work out ways to reimagine some of their biggest hits in a more relaxed, acoustic form - something completely different for the band, and their fans. Jules' smoky voice set against these intimate, folk-inspired acoustics are exactly what the world needs right now.
“Making this record was a true test of my vocal abilities!” says Jules, “When your voice is exposed like that there is nowhere to hide. I really enjoyed pushing my limiting beliefs and being vulnerable to go a little deeper with this album… I think you will find that the music is some of the best music we have ever produced!”
“I was really pushed outside of my comfort zone with this album, but working with these incredible musicians (who we really do need to be supporting over this time), made my job a thousand times easier. The full album is launching on 02 April and I really can’t wait for you to get a little more ‘Up Close’ to us as a band and as people” says producer Ben Peters.
Reminiscent of the stripped-downess of Jack Johnson, 'Waiting for Summer' has all the beach feels reminiscent of sunsets with friends around a fire as the sun goes down.
